Scratch-n-Sniff Still Life Art

Ready for some scratch-n-sniff Still Life?

Pull the Kool-aid out of your cupboard . . .
(mix each flavor in a bowl with a few tablespoons of water)

Pull the fruit out of your fridge . . .

Now you're ready . . .

So paint away!

My daughter had so much fun with this. She couldn't stop with just one picture. How fun is it that your painted lime smells like a lime and your orange smells like an orange? The bananas do smell like lemons though . . .

(Caution:  Kool-aid stains -- furniture, clothes, skin.  This isn't an activity for toddlers, unless you want your child to turn rainbow colors.)

  2. Sorry sweetie - but what did you do with the koolaid??? I have a 3yo that has gotten up everyday this week and pulled the watercolors out of the cabinet, found scratch paper in the trash can (yes!) and gone to painting before breakfast. We'd love the koolaid. Thanks for a precious blog.

  7. your blog is darling! we paint with koolaid every year in class, and the preschoolers just lovelovelove it! one thing to warn the kidlets about: while the koolaid SMELLS yummy, it does not TASTE yummy... it's superSUPERdupersour. Also, the grape comes out looking sort of like black rather than purple, and the yellow is usually very faint (for that one we use more lemon mix, less water.)

  8. Have you read the book "Purple, Green, and Yellow" by Robert Munsch? Part of your description sounded exactly like it! Super cute idea!
