Bookshelf Curtains

One of my favorite things is finding sheets, curtains, etc on super clearance and using them for the fabric--because you just can't get that much fabric for such a great price!  So a while ago I found this yellow shower curtain on clearance at Target for under $3 and knew I could use the fabric somehow!  It ended up being perfect for this project.
We have been in the process of trying to sell our house.  What a pain!  I have a little blue bookshelf in my eating area and sometimes it ends up with piles of papers, etc on the shelves . . . so in order to hide some of the mess I decided to make a little curtain for the bottom shelf.

After laying the fabric out I realized that the width of the curtain was perfect for the shelf and it already had the holes across the top (for shower curtain rings)--so this ended up being super simple.

Next I measured the length I needed, added a few inches and cut away.  It worked out nicely that there was a line on the pattern . . . so I got a nice straight cut (something I'm not great at!)

Finally I had to sew the bottom edge to finish it off.

I hung the curtain on a tension rod and--voila!  I had a nice cute little curtain to hide my mess from potential buyers!

I'm linking here this week.

  1. Great idea! This is exactly what I've been wanting to do for our night stand shelves we have! I just got a sewing machine the other day so I can do it now! :)
